within the Einstein Center for Mathematics (ECMath).The position is to be filled at 1st January, 2015 under a fixed-term contract for two years with the option to be extended. The position is subject to confirmation of funding. 

Tasks

The main task comprises research in project CH6 "Uncertainty quantification for Bayesian inverse problems with application to systems biology". The focus is on the generalization of sparse approximation results for ordinary differential equations and the development of algorithms for Bayesian inverse problems. Results will directly be applied to the modelling of cellular signaling pathways.

Requirements

Candidates should have an above-average academic degree (Diploma or Master) in a mathematical program or a comparable qualification. Very good knowledge in numerical mathematics and experiences with inverse problems are desired. Programming skills (Python, Matlab, C++, Fortran or similar) are advantageous. The job holder will receive the opportunity to graduate within the framework of the research project.
